Ist einem Gedicht die Generation abzulesen? – Jahrbuch der Lyrik 2019

«For exactly 40 years, the Jahrbuch der Lyrik has provided an insight into contemporary poetry written in German and its developments. For the 33rd edition, Christoph Buchwald has been able to win over the award-winning poet and novelist Mirko Bonné as co-editor. Together, they have selected the best from around 8,000 unpublished poems and put them together into thematic chapters. The texts span over all generations: the youngest contributor is 19 years old, the oldest one 86.
Is it possible to read a whole generation in a poem? What stimulates the poets? What place do time, present, utopia and dystopia find in poetry? How can (still or again) nature and landscape, love or uncertainty in the future truly nurture poetic inspiration even today? Or is contemporary poetry much more a question of word sound and sequences of syllables, like a foot tapping to rhythm?
Whoever wants to know how we feel in our language and in this contemporary world, will find it in the 33rd Jahrbuch der Lyrik, which will be even more exciting, surprising and stimulating than ever.
A whole section is dedicated to visual poems with an exhaustive bibliography of the latest poetry books.»
